We Could call these... CHALLENGES

Hello, Family&Friends,

The last letter I wrote was at the end of July. There have been many novelties since then.

I’m still in the kitchen, and I’m becoming really aware of the fruits of God’s dealings in my life while I am working in the kitchen. In this time God is telling me that he wants to set me free from myself. What do I mean? When I get angry in the kitchen and there’s not enough salt or oil, the food doesn’t turn out well, the onion burns and so many situations… I ask God to rid me of these situations so they don’t happen anymore, but I am learning that, God doesn’t want to rid me of these situations, but He wants to free me from my reactions to them.

I find that as I die to my reactions, the breaking of my will etc, and changing it to live in the Spirit… And when I live in the Spirit, I feel free. Free from what? From myself!

But it is a daily breaking… the Cross is daily… and following God is DAILY!
So, it is being positive to be in the kitchen, though also very difficult because the kitchen is PURE SERVICE AND CARING FOR OTHERS… It makes me come out of my comfort zone.

Now I’m also in charge of one of the main ministries of YWM Mar del Plata, which is the “MOBILE TEAM”. It consists of going to the churches around the coast and in Mar del Plata, supporting and sharing, offering workshops and seminaries, tools for them to grow in vision and mission.

I’ve also been told that I’m going to be leading and organizing the Summer of Missions, which is like a mini-DTS that lasts eight days.  This will be from the 21st to 28th of January 2013. So it will be a big challenge as it will be a very new thing for me to lead a mini-DTS.
I’m also part of the BAKING TEAM of MAR DEL PLATA YWAM, making muffins and “pasta frola” (a kind of Argentinean pie). We go to the bars and restaurants offering it to them, and they make orders all the time: it’s A LOT OF WORK. Please take a  look and “like” our Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/ReposteriaJucumMarDelPlata

Last September 14th I travelled to Ituzaingó (in Buenos Aires) for Pedro and Hannah’s wedding (staff on the base here in Mar del Plata)   It was very nice and I had the chance to see many of my friends. Also, during this time the base leader, Daniel Etchart, was having spinal surgery. Thanks for the prayers, because the operation was a success.

But since the leaders are not in the base, and the other base leader (Pedro) is on his honeymoon, there are many responsibility holes that need to be covered, and leadership has to be taken. Not only in the sense of the ministry, but also in the economical sense.

After King’s Kids I’m going to be the Percussion teacher, and that’s another challenge, because I learned by ear and never studied percussion. But God is giving me different teaching strategies.

And I just noticed that I have been working for ONE YEAR AS FULL TIME STAFF HERE IN MAR DEL PLATA!!!!! It went by so fast and slow at the same time, but it’s been so good… and so difficult… But God is faithful, and I’m happy that I am surrounded by people who seek God and love God. People who love you for who you are, and not for what you do. I’m so thankful for this family that helps me and challenges me to know God a little more.

The other day, after teaching percussion in a park, I went with a co-worker l and a King’s Kid to play in the middle of the park in order to raise funds… We only played for 40 minutes but we raised 61 pesos.(US $13)  In the park, I met other street artists, very crazy, but it was so good to talk to them about Jesus. So I have this feeling from God, about getting more involved.    I feel like God is talking to me about buying a drum kit, a small drum kit so it will be easy to carry it to play in the street. That way I can raise funds to pay my rent/fees, and at the same time impact this world of the STREET ART

On October 2nd, the RESCUE AND LIFESAVING DTS  will begin. This will be the second DTS in which I’ll be involved in as staff. Another new challenge.

Praying items:

-That I continue to cook without burning the food (or making rice purée when it’s not supposed to be purée)… anyway, that I keep doing well in the kitchen.
-That God will rid me… of MYSELF.
- That I can face these responsibility and leadership roles before me.
- For our challenges as a base: the DTS, King’s Kids, the Mobile Team, etc.
- For Daniel Etcart’s recovery.
- That God provides money so I can buy the drum kit for raising funds and for the ministry.
- That I can pay my staff fees, because the price for the rent went up, and for the lack of staff to cover the expenses.
- Pray that God will open the doors so I can bring a team to Spain in July and August next year.
- Tomorrow I have turn to go to Migrations to get my Argentinean residence. That costs a lot of money, and I have to juggle with the papers, and it’s complicated.

Finally News from me…..July 2012

Hello family, friends and church,

Many things have happened since the last time I wrote. As you know, we’ve already moved to the Centre of Mar de Plata. It was a miracle to find the right plot of land in the right moment, because God’s timing is perfect. We don’t even know where we got the money to rent it. Recently we have been seeing have seen the miracle of multiplication through the offerings.

The plot of land is already taking the form of a base, and more than a base, it is becoming a home. Fixing the house has required  a lot of funds, but we’re still experiencing the hand of God.

During all this time I have been really challenged. I have been placed as the base’s “chef”, I know it sounds almost impossible because I don’t know how to cook, but with every burn and every burnt dish… God has broken me, and he is still breaking my spirit by having me in the kitchen and pushing  me into new things, and depending on God even in even the small things. I’m also working as the designer and administrator of the base’s webpage. (http://www.jucummdp.com.ar/).

I received an invitation from the base in YWAM San Clemente, from the director Viviana Serrano, to go there and teach during the Winter of Missions, in which I was also asked to help as a leader. It was an amazing time in which God moved very much and was able to restore, heal and let Himself be known among the students.

I taught for two hours about how to hear God, and about quiet times. Which is something very basic, but it’s actually very profound, and I touched several points that were not very nice to talk about.

I would like to share a testimony of what happened during this Winter of Missions. There was a great variety of ages, personalities, etc… which brought a lot of richness to the group, but was very challenging when it comes to discipleship training. There were two girls aged 10 and 11; the amazing thing was teaching for two hours without a break and seeing that the girls were still Onpaying attention, and they would ask me to stop in order to write down the verses I was teaching about. After the class finished, they came running to me and said: “Teacher, teacher, I want to hear the voice of God!” In the class, I had shared a testimony of how God told me to draw during my quiet times, and it was in a prophetic drawing that God talked to me a lot.  She again said: “I want to draw Jesus, but I don’t know if he had beard, if he was tall, short, fat or thin”, and I answered: “God wants to make himself known to you, just as He made himself known to so many children in the Bible; go to your room and have your quiet time with God”. Later, in the night, one of the other workers came to me and said: “Benji, God spoke to the 10 year old girl!, she said that when she had her quiet time, God talked to her with an audible voice, repeating a verse which was 3 John 1:14: “I hope to see you soon, and we will talk face to face””. It was amazing how God spoke so clearly to this 10 year old girl!

Apart from collaborating with the base of YWAM San Clemente in the Winter of Missions, I’ve been going out with the Mobile Team in the weekends, promoting the EDE that is starting this 2nd October with focus on Rescue and Lifesaving. I also preached. It was a very good time.

Things to pray for:
* That I don’t burn the noodles, rice or any kind of food.

* That God continues to speak to me in the kitchen.

* Now, more than ever, I am at 0 in my account, and since we’re moving, there are more things that we need to pay, so I have to pay 400€ a month!

* I have travelled very much in this recent time and I still have more to travel and to share about Jesus, and the truth is my finances aren’t enough.

* For the base.

* For all the other missionaries in Argentina.

* God talked to me about taking a team to Spain!

* Pray for my brother Johnny, who is doing his EDE in Hong Kong.

Thanks for your prayers and for taking the time to work with me in the mission in Argentina.
